I’ve heard from so many people how their horses are abused, struck, mistreated in anger by some farriers. Inexcusable! It's NOT the horses fault. The trimmer should step back and reevaluate their methods. Why is the horse upset? Now, in DEFENSE of farriers and trimmers, if you cannot pick out your horses feet with ease, then you cannot expect us to be able to trim them. We are not trainers. Nor is it our responsibility.
You've worked hard to establish trust with your equine friend. Poor or harsh treatment by another can undo months of your hard work!
I will bond with your horse in the first few minutes. Let them know it’s ok. Aromatherapy if needed. This means always ask the horse for their feet. Never pull, force or bully.
BTW, put away your chains, crops and even cross-ties are not necessary. I don’t need them. Quite frankly neither does your horse. I will not trim a horse if twitched!
Your horse will feel comfortable and even a little playful while I’m working. Some of the horses actually watch their feet in curiosity, during the process.
I answer ANY and ALL questions. I show and teach you as I work with your horse. I can even teach you how to touch-up between trims. So be prepared to "Get in my face".
I will listen to your concerns and desires. After all, no one knows your horse better than you!
